How do forehead lines develop?

The horizontal forehead lines occur because muscles in the forehead between the eyebrows and the hairline are too active. The wrinkles are caused by certain facial expressions, such as looking surprised, concentrated listening or thinking.

The extent to which someone is bothered depends also on hereditary factors: you often see that if parents or other family members go through life with these wrinkles, you also develop horizontal lines more easily.
